Next up on our "Meet The Team" segment is Megan Randall, event/wedding planner extraordinaire. Her business, Gala by Megan, offers full service planning from start to finish, part-time planning or consulting services, and managing your event the day of. 1. What is your favorite event to plan and why?
My favorite event to plan, is a wedding. Not necessarily because the planning process itself is great, but because I love the reaction I get from my brides on their wedding day, when they see how everything comes together better than they ever could have imagined.
2. What is the hardest part about event planning in your opinion?
I would say the hardest part of event planning is sticking to the budget (although I always do!). Once I have a clear vision of what type of theme, setting or color scheme we are shooting for, my wheels start to turn and the possibilities are endless!
3. What is your favorite part about a wedding?
My favorite part about a wedding is when the Bride walks down the aisle. There is so much energy in the space at that time. The anticipation from all the guests, the groom's nerves, the bride in the midst of the moment she has spent months and months, if not years, planning for. So exciting!
4. How did you meet the Uptown team? Who did you meet first?
I first met Sumitra at the Dainty Obsessions Wedding Show. We hit it off right away. She then introduced me to both Jason and Dan.
5. What or who gave you the idea of creating a co-op?
The idea of a co-op came from the desire to have a one-stop shop for brides. However, I wanted to stay independent within my own business. I was lucky to meet other people with the same mind-set, attitude and creative ability.
