We are continuing our "meet the team" series with an excellent videographer, Jason Jonas. His business, jasonrjonas, offers not only wedding videography, but also event and commercial videography. Jason works closely with his wife Nicole to bring each client a beautiful video; they capture memories so you can relive them.
Here is some insight to Jason and the wonderful business he runs, and some extraordinary videos he has created:
1. Why videography?
In an effort to remember my wedding day five years ago, the pictures give justice to the beauty and love that was present and we are grateful to look back on those moments, but remembering the true emotion of the first look, the first kiss, and the first dance…are hard to recall. Our biggest regret is not getting a wedding cinematographer to capture those emotions on video.
Through past clients that we've crossed paths with, all have said how powerful their wedding videos are with being able to relive their big day. We are able to not only capture the beauty and details of the day, but the emotions of every moment. Some have said that it is the greatest couple's therapy out there. :)
2. What is the hardest part about shooting a wedding story/video?
Being invisible. We are there to capture everything that happens on your big day, so trying to be the "fly on the wall" and make sure everyone is natural around our cameras is the hardest part. We don't create memories we capture them.
3. What is your favorite part about what you do?
My favorite part is seeing, hearing, and reading the couple's responses to their own wedding story video. All the detailed time put into each unique wedding story is always worth it when you get to hear the ecstatic responses from the couples. Being able to create these lasting memories is what we take pride in and making other's lives that much happier is always rewarding.
But truly thinking about this question, my answer would be a more personal one. Through all the experiences of this business, without a doubt my favorite part is spending time with my wife on wedding days. She is the love of my life, and being with her and capturing other couple's love together is what gives me the passion to do what we do. The talks on the car ride in the morning, the scarfing of lunches that she packs, the synchronous system we've created, standing by her as we watch the mother/son first dance knowing she'll be there someday, and the relaxing car ride home when she puts her feet up. That…is my favorite part.
…Oh, and watching her infinite happiness in getting a piece of cake, that too. :)
4. How did you meet the team? Who did you meet first?
I met Sumitra on a styled shoot for Dainty Obsessions. We hit it off personality wise and I later ran into her and she invited Nicole out for a girl's lunch with Megan, where the plan of the wedding co-op came to fruition. We have run with it ever since and I can't wait for all the future plans to get set into place.
