Today we are meeting Jaden, second shooter to Jason Jonas. Jaden is an excellent videographer with plans to further her career in the cinematography industry. As always, I wanted you to have a little more insight on Jaden:
1. Why videography?
I did a lot of video & editing in college as part of my major (Media Studies), but the experience was solely geared toward working in a newsroom, which is not a career I wanted to pursue. As I planned my own wedding last year and as other friends got engaged, it just clicked one day- I could combine my love of videography with the fun and excitement of weddings!
2. What is the hardest part about shooting a wedding video?
The most difficult thing for me is maintaining energy throughout the whole day of the wedding. They get to be really long days and we're constantly on the go.
3. When filming a wedding, what is your routine? In other words, can you walk us through the day?
We pretty much just follow the schedule that the couple/wedding planner has set for the day and shoot whatever is happening. Typically, that begins with girls getting ready, the guys getting dressed, the first look, bridal party/family photos, ceremony, and so on. Whereas a photographer gives a lot of direction during the day, we go with the flow and capture it all.
4. What is your favorite part about creating a wedding video?
Watching it for the final time before I send it off for the couple to see. At that point, all the work has come together for others to enjoy!
5. How did you get lined up to start working with Jason?
We met online.
No, really. :) When I decided to pursue wedding videography, I did a Google search for local videographers who might be interested in training up an intern who had no idea what she was getting into. I stumbled onto Jason's website first, and I could tell from the photo of him and his wife that they must be fun. So I emailed him, we met for coffee, and here we are today. Jason and Nicole have gone above and beyond as far as helping my husband and I take on this adventure. We are so thankful for their willingness to help us succeed and to let us be part of their amazing work.
